The Chinese Box

Here is something I imagine those who read this have resorted to praying for. A short post.

Today I discovered that the famous Indian author, Salman Rushdie, developed his novels through the Chinese Box Theory. This basically involves telling a story, within a story, within another story.

And I'm guessing you, like me, immediately thought...INCEPTION!

Parody and stealing from Memebase aside, Inception was, in all truthfulness, developed using the same theory.

So there you go, literature can be interesting.

Just a heads up to let you know I will attempt to update at least 4 of the 7 days there are in a week. (I learnt this today too.)

AND...I will try to make it as interesting as I can, especially for those who have no idea who I actually am.

And...again...the pictures may be a little out of frame, I couldn't fix it :(

The Weekend Round Up - On An iPad!!!

The title is somewhat misleading...

Firstly it incorporates Friday which isn't technically the weekend...

Secondly, I only managed to write the title on an iPad so the bulk and actual content of this post is written on my concrete slab of a laptop...iSlab...

Apologies.

Anyway getting down to business we'll start with Friday.

ANYWAY (jeez) Last Minute Wonders are not on top form at the moment. We're having a tough season but this is primarily down to considerable amounts of cheating by opposition alot of which, on the whole, consists of using players from better teams to replace missing players, but I go on about that enough as it is.

We drew 3-3 with second from bottom, FC Awesome, a team we've comfortably thrashed in the past. This was down to the fact "their" keeper is incredible. However, I cannot be too critical as we've used him when our keeper has been absent so I'd just end up being a hypocrite... Besides this we're currently sat in 4th out of 6. Not in the relegation zone but with two tough games coming up we need all the goals and points we can get to avoid the dreaded drop.

For those who actually know what I'm talking about (football by the way) you should stay tuned for regular Friday updates into how we're getting on and whether we do indeed stay in the top league for another year...

Now on to the actual weekend part. Saturday and Sunday were spent in Lyme Regis at the home of the gem that is Miss Alice Blackmore.

Saturday evening we went out into Exeter for her friends 21st. I was inexplicably ill and that is the truth not just an excuse for drinking too much. I genuinely only had 1 beer...

Despite my dodgy belly I really enjoyed the 3 places we visited in the course of the night. The first stop was the Bowling Green Pub which had live music. The band were playing the chorus of Plug In Baby by Muse as I walked in which was incredible.

The next stop were the Amber Rooms which was a really well laid out bar, with a dancefloor and for once plenty of places to sit and have a conversation. Although, I was absent from the majority of the time spent in there as I may have been walking to Alldays and back to buy some Rennie...by may have been I was.

Our final port of call was Timepiece. A club/bar/outside thingy area which was pretty cool and all the good things I'd heard about it were solidly reinforced. The walls surrounding the downstairs bar and dancefloor are filled with old school street signs, adverts and loads of memorabilia that make it look amazing.

Overall, discounting the dicky tummy it was a pretty decent evening out. Especially for my first experience of Exeter.

Sunday brought about a brilliantly cooked roast dinner by Alice's granny as well as a sunny afternoon playing football with her cousins in the park. Is there any better way to spend a Sunday?

To wrap up another excruciatingly long post, at least in terms of typing it, just a quick note to say that they'll be a sprinkling of updates this week and they'll most probably relate to Uni. Hopefully I can squeeze some sort of banter in there so you I don't bore your eyes right out of your head.

So, yeah, it's February, no it's March actually. Not even I had read my own blog until yesterday evening when I remembered I had actually started one and that in order to maintain it I would have to contribute to it. Who knew?

I bet no one reads this anyway...

Y U NO READ MY BLOG?

Anyway, long story short I'm starting again. It will hopefully prevent me from doing absolutely nothing and instead allow me to talk about absolutely nothing.

I was also hoping to update you on everything since October and in all honesty I struggled to think of anything important enough to actually type. Not a huge amount, in fact, hardly anything has changed.

However, I have compiled a list in order to quickly inform for you of what's happened in my world since October...

• Snow
• Christmas...
• New Years Eve in Marazion - delightful and mother drank too much and was mega ill.
• January...which did have Alice's birthday as a highlight.
• NEW SEMESTER! EVERYONE IS SO EXCITED TO HEAR ABOUT THIS NOW!
• Special Constable Assessment Test <<<>

So there you have it. A list of 6 bullet points that detail everything I have done up to this date. Depressing.

This is already shaping up to be an enormous post so I will cut to the chase and let everyone (anyone) that reads it get on with their lives.

Semester 2/Term 2/Section 2/whatever the hell you want to call it...2 has begun.

In 2011, which I'm surprised I hadn't mention prior to this, I will be taking screenwriting as my choice...yes...another chance to watch films and yes I am doing a "Mickey Mouse" course...

Anywho, today as in the 4th of March we had a scheduled 9am til 12pm seminar in which we would be watching, studying and analysing Frozen River. Well, only 4 people, including myself, out of a possible 15+ bothered to turn up. On top of that fiasco the teacher didn't even bother coming along either. The cheek of it. I am paying upwards of £3000 a year at the moment to be taught in order to get a degree, not be left to watch a film like children at a day care...Rant. Over.

In other semester related things my week now consists of 4 days rather than 3. Not that I'm complaining as I am paying for it...

I made a new "and finally!"

I've taken my entry level assessment to see if I can become a Special Constable.

I hope you enjoyed the title. It is possibly the worst thing I could think of to associate with what Pete related news I have.

As you may or may not have guessed from the title (probably not guessed) I will blabber on a bit about the Comedy and Culture aspect of my course once again.

I can see your faces now.

And it msn speech I will voice your thoughts on me talking about my course once again...

FFS. FML. TTYL. ROFLMAO.

Don't know why I felt the need to do any of that. Moving on.

On Monday our seminar group was humbled to hear that we'd spend the majority of the 3 hours watching South Park the Movie. Epic.

We watched, laughed and note took (it is university-ish you know) for a good 2 hours before we settled to discuss the topics raised and analyse the film. If you look through the swearing, farting and general offensiveness to every race known to man it's actually a pretty clever film. Dealing with censorship issues and who is really to blame for bad child behaviour.

I think I've probably ruined the very essence of comedy in the film for you now and for that I'm sorry.

As you can see my course isn't really doing much for itself in terms of proving it's actually a course. But hey, I'm not fussed. You sit there and read, I'll go watch another film.

Swiftly trundling forward. The weekend was relatively eventless. Not that that is even a word. So my unfortunate readers I don't really have anything more thrilling to provide you with just now.

I'll work on that.

Pete related news... My review for Halo Reach was published in the University newsletter. Great success. Plus...I am reviewing Medal of Honor for potential publishing too. Double great success.

Oli has made a vital purchase. Let's just hope it doesn't fall into the hands of terrorists... Too soon for 9/11 jokes? Way to lose all your followers Pete.
